Workin'...workin' and practicin'.

Abstract Birds painting on residential window
Hey, I'm an artist. Well, not really. I find that 'title' way pretentious. I think it only works when other people say it about someone and usually only after they are dead. Is that just me?

So, I've been busy. As are we all. I have been doing arty things and doing business-y things and even doing some housework...ish stuff too. Mostly, I've been mom-ing.

So the window. Yeah, cool effect huh? The paint is Gallery Glass by Plaid.  I have also mixed in some glitters and combined various Gallery Glass products to have a larger pallet to work with.  The "lead" is also Gallery Glass Liquid Leading in gold metallic.  Of course I was going for an MCM pallet. You know me.

I have to say, this one was a bear...a hungry bear...a hungry bear with thorn in its paw and an unexpected tax assessment on its cave.  Poor bear. Where was I?  Oh yeah, it was tough.   Mainly because I was stubbornly insisting that the paint adhere to the window whilst being apply vertically when the product was actually designed to be applied horizontally on a polystyrene panel and then peeled and stuck on a window or mirror when dry.  Ain't nobody got time for that.  Even typing that took too much time. Some of the colors were thicker than others which helped, but I had to use some sooper seekrit brushing techniques and other embarrassing maneuvers to get it up there.

A local glass contractor is impressed and has a pic of the end result.  Maybe I'll get some contracted work for my effort.  One observer though that I had nicked a stained glass window from a church and installed it.  I took that as a compliment.

unfinished business
So, this one is one the "to finish" pile.  I must end it before it ends me.   Plus, it's taking up half my free living room space.  I think we're about 80% there.  The legs are hidden under that attractive newspaper skirt.  They are glossy chrome or maybe nickel so I incorporated a similar metallic into the design.  The intent is an abstract ocean/wind impression to go with the surfboard shaped table.  Coastal is big here in Florida.  If I put a beach theme or nautical theme to it; it sells.  Maybe I'm pushing the definition with the abstract, but hey, I gotta be me.

Wubie is waiting for his spaghetti.  Time for more mom-ing.  Hugs and stuff.

Really enjoyed reading that and seeing your 'masterpieces' displayed.
I especially love the window art. Oh to be able to DO something like that. WOW!
